A few recurring themes that help a team decide what to publish and why.
Content pillars are the recurring themes that organise what a business publishes.
For example, a restaurant might return to three themes: the people in its kitchen, the dishes they make and the occasions guests come to celebrate. Each theme gives the team several stories to tell.
Without clear pillars, content becomes reactive. The team follows trends, imitates competitors, and publishes isolated pieces that do not build recognition or authority over time.
Choosing Pillars
Start with the relationship between three things:
- what the audience is trying to understand;
- what the business can credibly explain;
- what supports the commercial direction of the business.
A handful of themes is enough to begin. Keep a theme if it helps the team choose useful stories; narrow it if almost any post could fit under it.
At FableForce, Shape, Build, and Grow provide that structure. They connect articles to the decisions businesses face rather than treating content as an independent stream of marketing activity.
